Last year’s Burns Supper was such a good time for all who attended that I am delighted to announce the Saigon Single Malt Club’s second annual Burns Supper. A Burns Supper is a day to celebrate the life and poems of Scotland’s most renowned poet Robert Burns. While the formal Burns Supper would include only the haggis, the SSMC dinner will be more diverse – in fact, as diverse as our membership. The menu, prepared by guest chef Riahi Nourredine (returning from Morocco and if you remember Casablanca Restaurant then you know already how delicious the food will be) will include tapas, salmon gravadlax with horseradish, beetroot and dill, duck cigars with shallot confit, haggis with nips and tatties, and for dessert death by chocolate served with Arabic coffee. Speyburn and Benromach single malt scotches, generously provided by Tran Ba Hieu of whiskyonlinestore.com will be served including the opening of a Lagavulin 1979 distiller’s edition accompanied with Neuhaus Belgium chocolates to cap off what promises to be a truly memorable evening! We will keep with the tradition of the piping of the haggis, poetry reading, a Toast to the Lassies and, of course, a reply from the ladies to the toast. And yes, they are meant to be funny! You will most definitely want to be part of the fun!
